Benefits of PVC insulating tape

As mentioned at the beginning, insulating tape does not conduct electricity. It is often made of PVC or made and is therefore only flame retardant, so that users can use it to wrap cable sheaths. This makes the repair tape particularly resistant and gives it a high level of strength. It proves its versatility as it can be used on various surfaces such as glass, metal or plastic.

A good vinyl insulating tape can easily be unrolled so that it can be placed directly on a pipe to form a seal. The repair tape is very elastic so that it adapts exactly to the thickness and nature of a line. However, it is only suitable for permanent repairs to a limited extent, as it offers less strength and stability compared to cable sheathing such as heat shrink tubing.

The tape is ideal for short-term or temporary insulation. The good insulation also ensures that this adhesive tape is often particularly weather-resistant and also significantly less sensitive to UV light.

This is how you can use electrical tape

With this adhesive tape you can renew the cable sheathing of electrical cables. It is therefore suitable for quick small and large repairs. For example, you can quickly and temporarily seal a leaky garden hose so that no more water escapes and it is no longer conductive. Alternatively, the adhesive tape is also suitable for fixing, masking or marking cables. Depending on where you want to apply the electrical tape, it should have a conspicuous color, for example to warn of tripping hazards. In other cases, the tape should be barely visible. Black electrical tape is often suitable here.

Correctly use insulating tapes with VDE approval in the electrical sector

To achieve a safe and long-term result, the tape should always be applied in at least two overlapping layers. So that it can adapt to the object to be wrapped without wrinkles, it should always be laid with sufficient stretch. Lay the last approx. 50mm less tightly and without tension to prevent the tape from coming off again.

In the case of tapered shapes, if possible, wrap from the narrowest to the widest point, thereby directly securing the lower layers.

If possible, always use scissors or a knife for cutting. If you don't have anything of the kind on hand and want to separate the insulating tape with your hands, keep your fingers as close as possible to avoid stretching as much as possible.

Buying PVC insulating tape - this is what you should pay attention to

It is very important that you use the correct tape for the purpose. It is essential to pay attention to which applications the tape is certified for. Our range, for example, can only be used for low-voltage cables.

You should also consider the length of the roll as well as the adhesive strength, width and thickness of the adhesive tape. Our adhesive tapes are 19 mm wide, 25 meters long and are insensitive to temperatures of up to 90 ° C.
