How do the self-adhesive reclosable fastener dots work?
The reclosable fastener dots work according to the one-component system patented by 3M, i.e., they are simply connected to themselves. How does that work? The bottom of the dots is a rigid polyolefin, one side is coated with a strong acrylate adhesive and on the other side small "mushroom heads" are arranged in a wave shape on a short trunk. When pressed together, these “mushroom heads” interlock and an audible firm, but releasable connection is created. The acrylate adhesive used is characterized by high aging and UV resistance and has an excellent final adhesive strength on many different surfaces.
Since the reclosable fastener dots are attached below the surface, an almost invisible connection is created, which can, however, be opened at any time as required. The surfaces to be connected are not destroyed by unsightly screw, rivet or nail heads and the look is retained. |
