3M Scotchlok 558S cable connector
The 3M connector 558S has a unique U-shaped contact that enables a quick and reliable electrical connection without stripping or twisting the wire. To do this, the running wire is placed in the upper running channel and the side cover is locked in place. The unstripped branch wire can then be inserted into the lower half of the channel and the U-contact closed using combination pliers. Then just close the top cover. As the U-contact is pressed into the connector, it penetrates the insulation and encloses the conductors, creating a spring-loaded connection.
It can be used in control, measurement, and regulation as well as in vehicle electrics and switchgear construction, whereby wires with a conductor diameter of 0.5 mm² to 1.5 mm² can be connected.
